Getting eight people to agree on what to do on holiday should probably qualify as an extreme sport.

One wants the beach.

One wants jet skis.

Two haven't surfaced from the night before.

Someone has already opened a beer.

And the organised member of the group has created a colour-coded itinerary that everyone else is ignoring.

Fortunately, Tenerife is ridiculously good for group holidays.

You can spend one day partying on the Atlantic, the next racing around a water park and another watching the sunset above the clouds at Mount Teide.

Whether you're organising a birthday, hen party, stag do, reunion or simply a Tenerife holiday with mates, there are enough activities to keep everyone entertained.

Here are 15 of the best group activities in Tenerife.

1. Start With a Tenerife Boat Party

There's a reason this is number one.

A Tenerife boat party does something that's surprisingly difficult on a group holiday:

It gets everyone in the same place at the same time.

Once you're aboard, nobody can suddenly announce they're disappearing shopping.

You get the Tenerife sunshine, Atlantic Ocean, music, drinks, entertainment and a group of people who are very much there to have a good time.

Boat parties work particularly well for:

Birthdays, hen parties, stag parties, friendship groups and younger holidaymakers looking for a proper party afternoon.

The best bit is that it doesn't replace your night out.

You've still got the evening.

Whether your body considers that a benefit is another question entirely.

2. Spend a Day at Siam Park

There aren't many places where you can put 12 friends into inflatable rafts and deliberately send them down enormous water slides.

Tenerife has one.

Siam Park in Costa Adeje is one of the easiest group activities to organise because there's something for practically every confidence level.

Those who want adrenaline can head towards the major slides.

Those who don't can float around.

And whoever screamed loudest can spend the rest of the day insisting they weren't scared.

The park currently features 19 attractions, ranging from family and relaxation areas to rides such as Tower of Power, The Dragon, Kinnaree and Singha.

Give Siam Park most of a day rather than trying to squeeze it into an afternoon.

It's also worth checking whether Siam Night is operating during your summer visit, as the park runs special night sessions on selected dates; in summer 2026, the official Tenerife calendar lists Siam Night through 29 August.

Best for: Almost any group.

3. Race Your Friends on Jet Skis

Nothing reveals someone's competitive personality quite as quickly as putting them on a jet ski.

Five minutes earlier:

"We're just going to enjoy the scenery."

Five minutes later:

World Championship Final.

Jet-ski experiences operate from several places along Tenerife's southern and western coastline, and they're particularly easy to combine with a group holiday based around Costa Adeje.

Depending on the excursion, you may head out along the coastline rather than simply riding around a small designated area.

It's ideal if your group wants a few hours of adrenaline without sacrificing the entire day.

Then spend the rest of the afternoon arguing about who was fastest.

4. Go Whale and Dolphin Watching

Not every group activity has to involve loud music and questionable decision-making.

Tenerife is also an excellent destination for getting out onto the Atlantic to look for marine wildlife.

Trips operate from Puerto Colón in Costa Adeje, including smaller excursions focused specifically on responsible whale and dolphin watching. Official Tenerife tourism listings include operators departing Puerto Colón with marine biologists and small-group vessels.

Here's your opportunity to obtain evidence.

Go-karting is one of the best group activities because there's an immediate winner, an immediate loser and usually several people arguing that their kart was slower.

Book a group race, qualify for grid positions and settle the debate properly.

It's particularly good for:

Stag groups, birthdays, friendship groups and anyone with a deeply unnecessary competitive streak.

Just establish the punishment for last place beforehand.

Buying the first round that evening seems fair.

6. Watch the Sunset and Stars at Mount Teide

If you've spent three days around the beaches and resorts of southern Tenerife, driving into Teide National Park feels like visiting another planet.

The coastline disappears.

The vegetation changes.

Volcanic rock stretches across the landscape.

And eventually you're thousands of metres above sea level.

Go during the afternoon, explore the viewpoints and stay for sunset.

Then wait.

Once darkness arrives, you'll understand why Tenerife has become such a strong destination for stargazing.

The Teide National Park renewed its Starlight Tourism Destination certification in 2026, while the Tenerife summits retain Starlight Reserve status.

Official tourism guidance highlights areas around the Parador and Montaña de Guajara for observing the night sky.

For a group holiday, this is a brilliant change of pace.

Particularly if the previous night's activity ended at 5am.

Go somewhere quiet.

Look at Saturn.

Reconsider your life.

7. Kayak Beneath the Los Gigantes Cliffs

Want an activity that looks incredible in photographs but also requires some actual effort?

Head towards Los Gigantes.

The enormous cliffs along Tenerife's western coastline provide one of the island's most dramatic settings for a day on the water.

You can explore parts of the coastline by kayak, with activity companies operating guided tours from the Los Gigantes marina alongside boat and jet-ski excursions.

Kayaking works particularly well with a smaller friendship group because you're doing something together without it becoming a full-day excursion.

Unless somebody refuses to paddle.

Then it becomes a very long excursion.

Best for: Active groups, couples travelling together and anyone who wants something outdoors without going full mountain expedition.

8. Book a Beach Club or Pool Day

Sometimes the group needs an activity requiring absolutely no physical ability.

Enter the beach club.

Reserve beds or a group area.

Put the sunglasses on.

Order drinks.

Stay there.

This works brilliantly somewhere in the middle of a busy Tenerife itinerary.

If you've already done boat parties, water parks, nights out and excursions, don't underestimate the value of scheduling:

Nothing.

A pool or beach-club day is particularly good for birthday groups and hen parties because you can still make it feel like an occasion without requiring everyone to be ready at reception at 7:15am.

And if somebody wants to sleep for four hours?

Technically they're participating.

9. Learn to Surf or Windsurf Together

Your group holiday can also contain something vaguely athletic.

Head towards El Médano, one of Tenerife's best-known areas for watersports.

The beach sits beneath Montaña Roja and has a long-standing surfing and windsurfing scene, with the more exposed sections particularly associated with windsurfing and kitesurfing.

In fact, El Médano hosts major international windsurfing competition, including the Wind&Waves Festival taking place from 31 July to 9 August 2026.

If none of you know what you're doing, even better.

Book a beginner session.

Everybody starts equally badly.

Nobody has an advantage.

Except that suspicious mate who casually says:

"I did a bit of surfing in Australia."

Ignore him.

10. Hire a Private Boat or Catamaran

If a standard boat excursion isn't enough, get the group its own vessel.

A private charter works particularly well for:

Groups travelling together for a special occasion.

Instead of sharing the boat with other guests, you get your own space and can create something more personal around your group.

Some groups want music and drinks.

12. Go Wine Tasting

Yes, Tenerife has wine.

Quite a lot of it.

And if the only wine you've experienced so far arrived in a jug beside the hotel pool, it's worth investigating further.

Tenerife's volcanic landscape, varied microclimates and long viticultural history have created a distinctive local wine culture, with around a hundred wineries across the island according to Turismo de Tenerife.

Tourism authorities highlighted several wineries for visits and tastings in 2026, with experiences ranging from tastings to vineyard walks and food pairings.

A winery trip is excellent for:

Birthday groups.

Couples travelling together.

Older friendship groups.

Or anybody wanting a day that feels more sophisticated.

You can spend the afternoon discussing volcanic soil and grape varieties.

Then by glass four you're just saying:

"Yeah, that's nice."

Still counts.

13. Organise a Big Group Dinner

This sounds simple.

It isn't.

Anyone who has ever attempted to find a table for twelve people at 8pm with no reservation knows what we're talking about.

For a group holiday, book one proper dinner in advance.

Choose somewhere everyone can agree on, get the table sorted before travelling and make it one of the main nights of the holiday.

Areas such as Costa Adeje, La Caleta, Los Cristianos and Playa de las Américas give you huge amounts of choice.

If it's a birthday, hen party or stag do, tell the restaurant when booking.

Not because we can promise they'll do anything special.

But because surprising a restaurant with 17 excitable people and a birthday cake is generally considered poor tactical planning.

Then use dinner as the start of the night.

Which brings us neatly to...

14. Have a Night Out in Playa de las Américas

This was inevitable.

For groups coming to Tenerife specifically for nightlife, Playa de las Américas is likely to appear somewhere in the itinerary.

Start with food.

Move onto bars.

Find somewhere with music.

Move again.

Somebody buys shots.

The evening becomes considerably less structured from this point onwards.

For birthdays, hen parties and stag groups, it's easy to combine the night with an afternoon activity:

Boat party → hotel → dinner → Las Américas.

That's a serious day.

You could also spend the afternoon at the beach or around the pool before heading out if you've realised you're no longer 21 and require energy conservation.

Sometimes the best group activity isn't one activity.

It's combining several.

Tenerife's south is compact enough that you can create some excellent full-day plans without spending the entire holiday on a coach.

The Party Day

Morning: Pool.

Following morning:

No scheduled activities.

The Adrenaline Day

Morning: Jet skis.

If you're travelling for a birthday, we'd combine something social during the day with a proper dinner and night out.

For example:

Boat party → birthday dinner → cocktails → nightlife.

Or if the birthday person isn't much of a drinker:

Siam Park → sunset at Teide → dinner.

For something more relaxed:

Beach club → sunset cruise → restaurant.

Hen groups have loads of options in southern Tenerife.

The obvious combinations are:

Boat party + beach club + dinner + nightlife

or

Siam Park + cocktails + restaurant + night out

You can then add something memorable such as a private boat, spa day or Mount Teide trip later in the holiday.

One piece of advice:

Don't organise a physically demanding activity at 9am after the main hen night.

For stag groups, competition usually works.

Karting.

Jet skis.

Water park.

Watersports.

Then a boat party and proper night out.

A particularly strong itinerary would be:

Day 1: Arrival + bars.

Day 3: Beach/pool recovery.

Day 4: Karting or jet skis.

Day 5: Teide or island trip.

For most friendship groups — particularly birthdays, hen parties and stag groups — we'd base ourselves in southern Tenerife.

Costa Adeje

Best all-rounder.

Beaches, restaurants, activities and nightlife nearby, with a slightly more polished feel in many areas.

Playa de las Américas

Choose this if nightlife is a major reason you're travelling.

You're putting yourselves right in the middle of the action.

Los Cristianos

Still lively but with a slightly different atmosphere and excellent access to the surrounding resorts.

The three areas sit close enough together that you can stay in one and easily visit the others.

How to Plan Activities for a Large Group in Tenerife

The larger the group, the more important it becomes to book the major activities before you arrive.

Ten people turning up usually isn't the problem.

Ten people wanting the same activity at the same time can be.

For bigger groups, we'd book the things everyone needs to attend together first:

Boat party.

Private charter.

Siam Park if you're organising transport or extras.

Group dinner.

Karting.

Major excursions.

Then leave things like beaches, shopping, casual bars and smaller activities flexible.

And don't schedule every hour.

A holiday itinerary containing 37 mandatory activities isn't a holiday.

It's employment.

What Should a Tenerife Group Holiday Cost?

That depends entirely on the group.

You can have an inexpensive Tenerife holiday centred around beaches, apartments, restaurants and nightlife.

Or you can fill every day with excursions, private boats and activities.

A sensible approach is to choose two or three experiences everyone really wants to do, book those first and build the rest of the holiday around them.

That way nobody feels like they're spending hundreds of euros doing things they weren't particularly bothered about.
